The Lexikon der Revolutions-Ikonographie in der europäischen Druckgraphik 1789-1889 deals with the primarily visual impressed public culture since the major incident of the French Revolution, which developed in different media until the late 19th century. In the idea of the „longue durée“ the old everyday print with its incidental, emblematical and caricaturistic character, still hover between art history and traditional history is reviewed under a comparatistic approach. The frequent transfer and the interplay of images, motives and symbols is documented by a database with nearly 10,000 records. Coached by the team around the editors Reichardt, Miersch und Cilleßen, resident on the JLU Gießen, an international staff of authors reconditions these facts in articles considering specific aspects of the different areas, tenses and problems, which will be published in 2012 in several volumes.
